University of Évora hosts exhibition by Bárbara Quirino

Atelier Nagual

The University of Évora has open to the public the exhibition “27 Foverer” by Bárbara Quiniro. The works are on display from November 25 to January 25, 2021, in the access corridor to the Sala das Bellas Artes of the General Library of the University of Évora, at Colégio do Espírito Santo.

The exhibition consists of a set of 9 acrylic paintings on canvas, in order to honor the great musical icons of the rock scene of the last century. Inspired by Eric Burdon's music, the title “27 Forever” refers to the mythical “27ʼs Club”, where several musical artists died at that age, but also to the characters whose careers achieved recognition, which boosted their success, when they had only 27 years old.

Fruit of this inspiration in young artists, holders of great charisma and personality in the area of world rock, the work that the artist now exhibits here, at the General Library of the University of Évora, follows a desire by the general library to seek to give visibility to artistic works of the students who attend, or have attended our Academy. In this sense, the artistic work of Bárbara Quirino, on the one hand, reinforces our desire to share and make known the expression acquired, in part, throughout her academic career, as a student of Visual Arts and Design at the School of Arts of the University of Évora, on the other hand, also reinforces, and highlights, its willingness to take on challenges, exposing its work within the Academy, as a way of reacting, artistically and aesthetically, to a manifest that, roughly speaking, reveals a its facets and artistic sensibilities, and also invoking its nature, as a citizen of land and sea.

Strongly influenced by the countryside and the sea, places that have accompanied her throughout her life, namely in childhood and adolescence, it will be from the fields of Alentejo, already in full adult life, that she enters her artistic drift, with the strong influence of the pictorial arts, also, at home, with his father, architect and painter. At the Academy, after joining the School of Arts, the artist captures new ways of looking and testing her abilities, giving rise to her artistic sensitivity, now gathered here in the exhibited works. His works also express a strength that derives from a chromatic drift, where the palette is used in a pigmented way, using and using a chromatic register that takes us to digitized universes, very close to digital lenses, which today so well We know. The result is, thus, very demonstrative of its path and plastic-chromatic horizon, and that expresses, in the end, all its greatness, genesis and contemporaneity.
