Gerontology and Health

Postgraduate Degree

Ano Letivo 2023/2024

Course Overview

In Portugal, as in other European countries with a marked demographic aging, there has been a higher prevalence of multiple chronic diseases and disabilities, challenging new responses from the various support, intervention and care systems and their respective actors. This course is aimed at health, exercise, social and psychological support professionals, and others, who aim to deepen their knowledge and skills on gerontology, geriatrics and well-being in the elderly population and their families, within a systemic, transdisciplinary and innovative approach. The addressees will be professionals who intervene with the elderly population, in social, community, health and/or rehabilitative and/or residential contexts, enabling them to promote differentiated care, quality of life, inclusion and well-being, based on community support networks that support healthy ageing and differentiated and integrated care of the elderly population, either at a more autonomous stage or at stages of greater need for support. The post-graduation course is structured in compulsory modules and seminars, which totalise 60 ECTS of sequential training, to be carried out in a face-to-face and e-learning format. In total, the Course will have a trainees' workload of 1560 hours, equivalent to 60 ECTS at the University of Évora and will be developed over 2 semesters, in after-work hours.
Organic Unit: Escola de Saúde e Desenvolvimento Humano
Duration: 2 Semesters/60 ECTS credits (60 required in curricular units)
