Provide knowledge on the cu's theoretical bases and understanding of the problems existing in tropical regions. Develop the ability of students to integrate and make autonomous use of this knowledge.
Develop the students' ability to deal with complex phenomena, issues and situations, and develop the students' potential for professional activities that demand considerable autonomy, including research and development.
Develop students’ skills to critically analyse the possible solutions to the existing problems, evaluating the pros and cons, and selecting the most appropriate alternatives considering the opportunities and constraints.

Eco-ethics, environmental ethics, Animal ethics. Deep Ecology, Biospheric egalitarianism
Environmental activism. Environmental education: theory and praxis: case-studies.
Nature conservation – ecosystems and biodiversity. Protected areas, parks, reserves, natural monuments, landscapes, habitats. IUCN and UNESCO classifications.
Tropical ecosystems - fragilities, values, conservation policies and priorities
