• To acquire knowledge for interpret and develop health measurement instruments
• To acquire knowledge for apply health measurement either through face-to-face or digital/computerized ways

Contents

• Fundamental measurement principles. Nominal, ordinal, interval and ratio measurement.
• Preparation of the questionnaire. Previous elements of presentation and consent. Face-to-face and electronic questionnaires.
• Scale and Index. The types of response. The format of the items. Dimensionality
• Quantitative instruments. Validation / adequacy. Reliability, validity (s). Statistics applied to the construction of questionnaires. Visit to IBM SPSS.
• Qualitative instruments. Visit to content analysis software.

Teaching Methods

• A master will be used to present theoretical subjects, which introduce the fundamental contents, rules and assumptions related to health measurement, its usefulness and framing in the field of Epidemiology. Following will be introduced classes of a dynamic nature, where the principles of construction, translation, validation / adaptation are worked out individually or in a group, in the sense of developing an idea, where the knowledge is applied.
• The evaluation results from the development of this idea, through the design of a project with the theme, development of the instrument, construction of the data matrix and example of data collection.
• The material is placed on the Moodle platform: Exhibition of the themes will be in power-point, video.; also exercises, materials or articles to support students.
