Sustainable Development Goals

Learning Goals

After a practical review of all the statistical methodologies given in Data Analysis I, some emphasis will be given, from a largely practical point of view, to multivariable analysis. The objectives of this curricular unit are to learn about data modeling with different distributions for the response variable. Knowledge about the linear regression, logistic regression and Cox regression models will be deepened. The importance of verifying the applicability conditions of each of these models will be examined using residual analysis. It should provide the development of the following competences: before a data set, identify the distribution of the response variable, the independent variables and the potential confounding variables, select and implement the appropriate model, know how to verify the applicability conditions of each model through analysis and interpret the results.

Contents

Review of hypothesis tests: tests for two independent samples, tests for two paired samples, Chi-Square test, Fisher's exact test and McNemar test. Non-parametric tests for more than 2 independent samples (Kruskal-Wallis test) and related (Friedman test). Linear regression model: adjustment, residue analysis and interpretation. Logistic regression model: adjustment, residue analysis and interpretation. Cox regression model: adjustment, residue analysis and interpretation.

Teaching Methods

The teaching process is mainly through practical teaching with exercises in SPSS. Communication between students and teachers is in person and through e-mail. Classes should take place in a room with computers (1 for each student), with a maximum duration of
120 minutes.
Assessment: a set of data will be made available for students to analyze using the statistical methodologies given and to prepare a report.
