This subject has the general objective of providing Master students with theoretical and practical bases for carrying out scientific research in Tourism.

The Course of Theory and Research Methods in Tourism aims to provide general masters theoretical and practical bases for the realization of tourism research. The specific objectives intended to:
1 To reflect on the nature of the study of tourism and the role of research in tourism studies
2 To analyze the different approaches you can adopt a tourism research;
3 To evaluate the main paradigms that contribute to research in tourism;
4 To discuss the different research methodologies that can be used in tourism research;
7 To ponder on the future of tourism research.

Teaching Methods

Expository method, which allows for the systematization and critical discussion of the content. Active interrogative method, which encourages student participation. Analysis of case studies illustrating the use of various methods and techniques in tourism research, along with application exercises. The documents prepared by the instructor and made available to students form a set of materials to guide the study of the course. It is up to the student to research the existing bibliography in the School, University, public libraries, and on the Internet in order to successfully complete the assessments. The content of these documents must be supplemented through personal research, as expected at the Master's level."

Assessment

Continuous Assessment System: 1 individual written test (40%) [minimum grade of 8.0] and 1 practical assignment (60%).
Assessment by exams: 1 individual written test (100%)
