Archaeology

Doctoral Degree

Ano Letivo 2026/2027

Course Overview

The PhD in Archaeology offered at the University of Évora, with a duration of 4 years, aims to train highly qualified researchers and professionals in the most diverse chronologies and specificities inherent to this scientific area, considering not only the most traditional research topics but also the new challenges we face with the development of new technologies and work tools.
The study plan, which is entirely tutorial-based, aims to cater not only for candidates who are working students and who, for various reasons, are unable to apply for scholarships, but also for those who, due to the topics they propose to research, have their laboratory/research work taking place in institutions that are not located in the Alentejo region.
From the first year to the last, the aim is to provide personalised guidance, supported by lecturers, senior researchers and research centres, which allows our doctoral students to work on and develop their research projects in the locations that are most convenient (laboratories, museums, research centres, etc.) for their objects/topics of study.
