Course Overview

This programme aims to contribute to the advanced training of researchers and the production of knowledge in the field of Linguistics.  The activities carried out within the scope of this PhD fall within the research lines of two R&D Centres (CEL-UÉ and CIDEHUS-UÉ) accredited by the FCT.  The aim is to carry out scientific research in specialised areas of Linguistics, promoting the consolidation of the following skills: mastery of the methodologies and research practices associated with the area of Linguistics, as well as deepening the ability to design and carry out original research, respecting the standards of academic quality and integrity.  The aim is also to develop the ability to transfer the knowledge produced in specific areas of Linguistics to the academic community and society in general.

Specific Entry Requirements

Legal conditions for access to the cycle of studies leading to the doctorate (doctor) degree (Ph.D.degree) Those who meet the following conditions may apply to the cycle of studies that leads to the doctorate (doctor) degree (Ph.D.degree): - Holders of the master degree or legal equivalent; - Holders of a bachelor degree who have a particularly relevant academic or scientific curriculum vitae that is recognized as attesting the capacity to carry out this cycle of studies by the relevant scientific body of the higher education institution they wish to be admitted to; - Holders of an academic, scientific or professional curriculum vitae that is recognised as attesting the capacity to carry out this cycle of studies by the relevant scientific body of the higher education institution they wish to be admitted to. Specific admission conditions: Foreign applicants whose first language is not Portuguese are required to submit evidence that they have achieved level B2 in this language. Evidence is only accepted if a test has been taken in the two years before the start of the course of study.
