Contents

Program contents 1st Module - The innovative discourse of Faulkner's fiction and its association with Lobo Antunes’ novels. - Madness and Literature in Faulkner and Lobo Antunes.
- Techniques of Modern Fiction in As I Lay Dying, Sanctuary and The Sound and the Fury.
    . The influences of the French symbolists, T.S. Eliot, W. B. Yeats and Thomas Mann.
    . Interior monologues and subjective experience.
    . Cubist nature of a polyphony of voices and the intricate changes of perspective.
    . Characters and the abolition of chronology.
    . Faulkner as a Southern Euripides - the presence of Evil and Death; echoes of Greek  tragedy.
    . An aesthetic of resistance - the concept of "endurance" in characterizing the individual destroyed by society and the dark forces within himself. 2nd Module

  - Memory and despair;             

  - Memory and love;             

  - Memory and travel.
