Learning Goals

The study of theory of literature, framed in the assumptions of actuality and wide scope, will take place, preliminarily, in three fundamental issues: the object that is the theory, its relationship with other fields of knowledge and the current state of its own speech. We propose thus to trace the birth and development of a scientific theory within the field of literary studies. Their lines are structural, so it follows the syllabus presented then in the program of the discipline, the broad concepts that, in our view, allow you to explain the theory's development as a process that helps to form the own problematic sense of literature: literariness, textuality and interdiscursivity.

1. The theory of literature as a discipline. 2. Formalism to Structuralism; basis to literality; Structuralism or the textual object; basis to semiotics. 3. Post- Structuralism. Cultural Studies.

Teaching Methods

The assessment consists of a work directed by the teacher, in its various stages, ranging from a plan by topics and choosed bibliography, until the final wording, passing through several drafts. The starting point is the research about copora of literary texts, chosen by students, or about clashes of theoretical lines that address the same issues or problems similar to those of the syllabus. We consider the drafting of dissertation proof capacity of dissertation, speech organization and statement, probative must be based in a wealth of research, in a wide range of domains of knowledge. Therefore, the work to be done during the process of graduate school or school must focus on the stimulation of the approach of the election by the students. At best, prior to dissertation research and drafting of a text t(ten to fifteen and a half-space pages), which we call as the basis for the classification school discipline should arise the fundamental lines in which the dissertation will be done.
