Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM)

Curso de Formação

Ano Letivo 2025/2026

Course Overview

Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) technology is essential for the operation of robotic systems and autonomous vehicles in unknown and dynamic environments. Understanding the fundamental principles of SLAM enables the development of solutions that integrate spatial perception with intelligent navigation, using data from sensors such as LiDAR, cameras, and IMUs. This module explores the different types of sensors used in SLAM, allowing students to gain practical skills in the development of robotic applications. It covers data processing techniques to improve the accuracy of localization and mapping, as well as the implementation of algorithms such as visual odometry and GraphSLAM in Python. By the end of the course, students will be able to design and apply SLAM solutions in real-world scenarios, such as mobile robots and autonomous drones, expanding their capabilities in the field of modern robotics.
