Course Overview

The course "Atmospheric Observation Techniques: In Situ Instrumentation" has the objective to give to the students the basic skills for the use of gas and particle analyzers, normally used at the surface to study the variations of atmospheric compounds in the boundary layer for air quality assessment. This course is offered by the University of Évora and will be taught by highly qualified professors, who carry out investigations on atmospheric physics and chemistry. This course offers training on the fundamentals of operation of the different sensors used, on the techniques of analysis and processing of the objective data and maintenance of the instrument. The technological development of the latest decades in the domain of environmental monitoring will also be introduced with historical accounts of the instruments and techniques used.

Este curso destina-se a técnicos de meteorologia do Instituto Portugues do Mar e Atmosfera (IPMA) ou outras entidades nacionais ou estrangeiras cuja missão inclua responsabilidades nas áreas da meteorologia, meteorologia aeronáutica e clima e com necessidades de formação nesta área. Destina-se ainda a técnicos da Proteção civil e Autarquias, ou a qualquer pessoa interessada nestas áreas, cuja formação inicial seja adequada para aquisição dos conhecimentos e competências a adquirir com esta formação.
