Course Overview

The main objective of the course is to provide professionals working in mental health with a review of thefundamentals of psychopharmacology, exploring the specificities of the different psychopharmacological classes.It will have special emphasis on clinical application, analyzing the fundamental principles of clinicalpsychopharmacology and its relevance to the treatment of psychiatric disorders.During the course, international prescribing guidelines and recommendations will be addressed, focusing on thesafety and effectiveness of psychopharmaceuticals. Relevant clinical studies, which underpin prescribingpractices, will be presented, with the aim of providing participants with grounded, cross-cutting knowledge, usefulfor a cross-cutting, multidisciplinary treatment process.The course will have a significant practical component, with the discussion of practical clinical cases, in whichparticipants will be able to apply their knowledge and develop skills in the appropriate and individualized choiceor interpretation of pharmacological treatments, considering the specific characteristics of each patient. It will be carried out in collaboration with ULSAC.

The course is aimed at medical doctors, nurses, psychologists and pharmacists working in the area of mental health in primary,secondary and community health care settings. Graduates in the health area and related fields may apply, as well as professionalswith relevant academic and/or professional curricula (whose acceptance will depend on the appreciation of the Course Committee).
