Course Overview

This is a short training course, developed as part of a research and clinical intervention programme in perinatal mental health.
Mental illness is the main undiagnosed obstetric complication in pregnancy and postpartum, affecting 20-35% of women and 10% of men when there is no psychiatric history, and doubling when there is.
Given the prevalence and impact of perinatal mental illness, specific training is proposed, in order to sensitise and train professionals who intervene in pregnancy and post-partum to a holistic approach, favouring the promotion of mental health in the perinatal period.

For Whom

This training course is aimed at doctors, nurses, OTs and social workers, psychologists, or other professionals working in the areaof mental health (perinatal), paediatrics, gynaecology and obstetrics and primary health care. Graduates in the areas of health,exercise, rehabilitation, social, and other professionals working in the perinatal area (i.e. pregnancy, postpartum and earlychildhood) who hold a degree are eligible to apply.Professionals with relevant academic and/or professional curricula may also apply (acceptance of which will depend on theassessment of the Course Committee).
