Learning Goals

Develop skills for the application of therapeutic massage and neuromuscular bands in the reeducation / optimization of motor and neuromuscular functions.
Skills to develop:
- Understanding of the concepts that underlie the massage techniques and the application of neuromuscular bands;
- Develop diagnostic evaluation by palpation, muscle strength tests and joint amplitude;
- Develop clinical reasoning for diagnosis and prescription in neuromuscular injuries;
- Training to apply therapeutic massage techniques and neuromuscular bands.

Module 1 - Therapeutic fundamentals
1.1-Principles of therapeutic massage
1.2-Physiology of massage
1.3-Therapeutic applications of massage
1.4-Fundamentals of treatment with neuromuscular bands
1.5-Criteria and techniques for applying neuromuscular bands
1.6-Physiology of pain: Painful syndromes
Module 2 - Therapeutic Techniques
2.1-Methods and techniques of diagnostic evaluation: Palpation, strength tests and joint amplitude.
2.2-Prescription and development of the intervention plan.
2.3-Criteria for evaluating results

Teaching Methods

Theoretical sessions are developed according to an initial expository methodology ,that presents and explains the main concepts, and a component of collaborative analysis and interpretation of scientific studies on the themes.
The sessions of simulated laboratory practices begin with a demonstration moment, followed by the resolution of case studies under the guidance of the teacher. Participants carry out the evaluation, planning and execution procedures of the different therapeutic techniques.

Assessment

The assessment includes two components: collaborative activities (75%) and participating in simulated practice sessions (25%).
In accordance with the Academic Regulations, students can choose the final assessment method.
