Learning Goals

Deepen and apply data science techniques and methods, developing in students the ability to critically analyze problems, extract and transform information that can be used by statistical techniques and machine learning, research the most appropriate models for the problem and interpret the results obtained.

At the end of the course, it is intended that students are able to, for a specific problem:
- research and identify the most suitable methods for solving the problem
- analyze the available information, apply the necessary data transformations, build models appropriate to the problem
- critically analyze the performance of the models created and decide which is the most appropriate

Contents

- Presentation of concrete problems in the application of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (AI and DS) techniques for different types of information, including: nominal and numerical data, text, images and audio
- Review of concepts, techniques and algorithms best suited to each specific problem
- Development of AI and DS systems

Teaching Methods

The teaching is based on laboratory classes (PL) where students apply the principles and concepts acquired in previous courses and deepen with the AI and DS problems at hand.

Students have an active and cooperative participation in the proposed learning and carry out a series of tasks in the development of small projects.

Assessment

Continuous assessment - consisting of 2 projects (each with a weight of 50%).

Final assessment - consisting of an exam (50%) and two projects (each with a weight of 25%).

The student is approved if the final grade is equal to or greater than 10.
