Course Overview

 
The Integrated Master in Veterinary Medicine aims to provide academic education and professional training that enables the future professional to meet the demands of a profession in constant evolution, consistent with the scientific and technological development of the areas of expertise of the Veterinary Doctor and under international quality standards. The acquisition of skills throughout the course favors the autonomy and self-confidence of the student, exploring opportunities to deepen new knowledge and for its translation into the resolution of situations of professional practice, qualities that are fostered by clinical practice accompanied in a veterinary hospital environment by privileged access to the Alter pole and to animals of different livestock species in Mediterranean production systems, and also by the approach to diagnostic and research laboratories. Through their training, students are equipped with the fundamental reasoning skills that adequately support the resolution of problems or situations and decision-making to diagnose and treat diseases and alleviate suffering, safely managing animal production processes, intervening actively and effectively in the One Health approach; ensure the protection of public health and animal welfare in situations of health and disease; develop teamwork skills and work in differentiated and multidisciplinary contexts; develop skills in clinical research and communicate effectively in a professional environment; and establish a commitment to regular updating throughout life.

Professional practice in the liberal regime and clinical activity (clinical and surgical) in the different animal species (areas of companion animals, including new companion animals; production animals; equines; and wild animals/Zoo); professional activity in central administration contexts in state bodies, in certification bodies and animal health and food safety surveillance and monitoring bodies, among others; Local government; analysis laboratories; Public Health; Activity and Consultancy in the area of Inspection and Food Safety; Quality control/monitoring and consultancy for the food industry of animal origin products; Industries of compound feed; Pharmaceutical industry; Assistance to biotechnology companies; Research and Higher Education.
