This UC presents the causes of the disease and the main mechanisms of the body's response to aggression and the characteristics of pathological conditions and consequences for organs and systems.

Notions of pathophysiology
• Study of diseases, evolution and subdivision of pathology
• Concepts of health and illness
• Mechanisms of injury and cell adaptation
• The disease and its causes
Mechanisms for responding to aggression
• Inflammatory response, repair and healing
• Hemostatic, hemodynamic, thromboembolic disorders and shock
• Pathophysiology of pain
• Oncological pathophysiology
Systemic pathophysiology (system and organ diseases)
• Pathophysiology of the cardiovascular system
• Pathophysiology of the respiratory system
• Pathophysiology of the digestive system
• Pathophysiology of the urinary system
• Pathophysiology of the endocrine system
• Pathophysiology of the Hematopoietic System and Immunity
• Pathophysiology of the Nervous System
• Pathophysiology of Politrauma, Infection and Sepsis.

Teaching Methods

Teaching will be done through the expository methodology, with theoretical and theoretical-practical classes.
In the theoretical-practical classes, students will be distributed in groups to address themes and clinical cases.
Assessment will be done by written examination, corresponding to 75% of the final classification. The remaining 25% (5 values) will be obtained through the assessment performed during the theoretical-practical sessions, related with a case-study.
