Sustainable Development Goals

Learning Goals

Since this is essentially a discipline workup, which is the first approach to plant science, the discipline has as main objective to provide the basics of plant diversity and organization, with special emphasis on the binomial structure-function.
The characterization of Phyla (in its morphological aspects, anatomical, physiological, etc..) Would be under a double perspective phylogenetic and adaptive.
It is intended that students throughout this unit:
1. Acquire minimum skills level of distinction of the main taxonomic groups covered, both from a theoretical point, either in the application of this knowledge in identifying specimens;
2. Understand, in an integrated way, the role of the organisms in ecosystems and potential uses for humans.

Contents

1.The evolution in the plant kingdom - Diversity and characteristics of major groups. Understanding plant taxonomy.
2. Cyanophyta - blue-green algae.
3. Protists: Euglenophyta, Rhodophyta, Dinophyta, and Myxomycota Protista II: Chlorophyta, Bacillariophyta, Phaeophyta, and Chrysophyta Oomycota.
4. Fungi: Ascomycota, Basidiomycota, Zygomycota and Deuteromycota.

Teaching Methods

Lectures and classroom teaching practices. In the lectures will present the concepts. The laboratory classes will be devoted to observation, macro and microscopic, of the groups studied in the classroom. Rating: 1st Evaluation Theory, 2nd Evaluation Theory, Theoretical and Practical Examination and Theoretical and practical supllementary Exam.
Final Score = (Note of the Theory + Practice Note) / 2
Note: To get approval in the course the student should get an average of not less than 10 points. The minimum score in the assessments (theoretical and practical) shall be not less than 8 values.
