Geography
Bachelor's Degree
Ano Letivo 2026/2027
Course Overview
The bachelor's degree in Geography provides comprehensive and solid scientific and technical training, linking the social sciences and earth sciences, society, and the environment. Its interdisciplinary nature provides students with extensive knowledge and skills in the field of spatial planning and management, enabling them to formulate, analyze, and evaluate essential tools for the design of territorial public policies and to collaborate in the construction of conscious citizenship, supported by an integrated vision of the planet. By appropriately integrating various scales, students develop skills to understand the interconnection of natural and human phenomena and processes.
The set of geographical learning and skills is obtained using active methodologies, developing critical thinking, problem solving, the formulation and implementation of projects, and the ability of students to work independently, both individually and in groups. Fieldwork experiences in different contexts, collaborative work with the community, and the application of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) resources are highly valued. Thus, this training is eminently applied in nature.
The teaching staff seeks to encourage student involvement, especially in the final year of the degree program, in various activities carried out at nationally and internationally recognized scientific research centers and with a community of technical expertise (network of national, regional, and local entities). In doing so, they open up employment opportunities, but also create conditions for greater specialization and for the continuation of studies at the postgraduate level. The close relationship established between faculty, students, research, and the community of practice around the bachelor's degree in Geography is one of the most distinctive and original features of this program.
