Sustainable Development Goals

Learning Goals

Provide knowledge of the phenomena of the hydrological cycle (A) to provide a solid basis for the different applications of EC. The necessary competencies are developed for the quantification of water resources (B), the inventory of water needs and the characterization of the processes resulting from the circulation of water in atmospheric and terrestrial components (C). Understand water as a renewable resource, but limited and conditioned in the face of evidence of climate change (D). Develop skills to perform the characterization of hydrographic basins (E), calculate the amounts of water involved in different physical processes such as precipitation, evaporation, infiltration and flow (F), statistically analyze hydrological quantities and extreme hydrological phenomena such as floods and droughts (G), estimate hydrograms and flood tip flow rates with a view to hydrological dimensioning within the project (H), as well as simulate the operation of reservoirs (I).

Teaching Methods

The teaching is carried out through theoretical-practical classes, in which the subjects are presented through the exhibition and interactive method, using information technologies, necessary for students to acquire the competencies associated with Hydrology and Water Resources in the scope of Civil Engineering. Exercises that help in the understanding and analysis of the exposed materials will be proposed and resolved in a structured way. It is also promoted the analysis of case studies and group work with collection of information essential to the applied study and problem solving. The collection of information outside the will be promoted in order to carry out the desired practical work.

Assessment

The evaluation is ensured through the performance of two practical work (Trab) and two frequencies (Freq) throughout the semester or by Final Examination (Exa). Normal season: continuous evaluation (0.5Freq + 0.5Trab) or final evaluation (0.5Exa + 0.5Trab). The evaluation in time of appeal, special, extraordinary meets the following components: 0.5Exa+ 0.5Trab. Minimum score of 8.5 val in any of the Trab and 9.5 val nas Freq or Exa.
