Sustainable Development Goals

Learning Goals

With the widespread use of computers in the analysis of structures, engineers, instead of using classical methods, use calculation programs that are based on matrix methods. These automated methods make the calculation processes difficult to understand. It is intended that students develop skills for interpreting, analyzing and solving a given real problem, in a simple and logical way, applying traditional and most current concepts in the field of structural design to their solution, as well as facilitating dialogue with Structures profile specialists.

Contents

1. Theory of Structures
2. Symmetry and Anti-symmetry
3. Elasticity relations.
4. Static indeterminacy.
5. Analysis of isostatic structures.
6. Method of Forces – Equation of the Method of Forces; 7. Kinematic indeterminacy.
8. Displacement method.

Teaching Methods

Classes will all be theoretical-practical, where the subject will be exposed, theoretical framework, followed by the resolution of practical cases, promoting the participation of students in solving problems.

Assessment

Assessment is ensured through the completion of two practical assignments (Work) and two frequencies (Freq) throughout the semester or final exam (Exa). Normal Season: continuous assessment (0.8Freq + 0.2Work) or final assessment (0.8Exa + 0.2Work). The evaluation at the time of appeal, special, extraordinary meets the following components: 0.8Exa+ 0.2Work. Minimum grade of 8.0 val in any of the evaluation elements.
