Summary

Project SIRAS shall develop an information system for a sensor network of a medium/large dimension, accessible anywhere anytime, with effective information dissemination mechanisms (close to real time performance) among the nodes that constitute the network, namely producers (sensors) and consumers, considering high levels of network dynamics, both in terms of nodes' creation in the network and nodes' unavailability timing.

Developing multidisciplinary competences and creating long-lasting sinergies among the promoting partners, SIRAS offers the easy integration of sensors in the network and systems, a global node-to-node connectivity, including sensor-nodes, managers-nodes and consumers-nodes, ubiquity through data availability anywhere anytime, a strong dynamic component, embedded in the sensor network in terms of its constitution and in each sensor's operational status, and the support to various network types, including fixed networks and wireless networks (WiFi and 3G), even in high-mobility environments.


Objectives, activities and expected/achieved results

O projecto SIRAS tem como objectivo a criação de um sistema de informação de uma rede de sensores de média/elevada dimensão (mais de 100 nós) com mecanismos de disseminação de informação eficazes (próximos ao tempo-real) entre os nós que constituem a rede, nomeadamente produtores (sensores) e consumidores, tendo em conta uma elevada dinâmica na rede, quer em termos da sua constituição (à entrada (ligar) e/ou saída (desligar) de nós na rede, quer devido a indisponibilidade (falhas, avarias ou trabalhos de manutenção).
