Welcome to the University of Évora. One of the strategic missions of the International Office of the University of Évora (IRO), at an institutional and international level (European Policy Statement - EPS, approved by the European Commission), is to promote the international students mobility exchange, under international mobility programmes (such as Socrates/Erasmus) or under bilateral agreements, networks, and international projects, hosting foreign students and sending students abroad. The University's participation in the Socrates (Erasmus) programme and other exchange programmes is co-ordinated by IRO. For those students who wish to study abroad, the office has wide information on foreign universities and provides information on funds and opportunities.
This information has been designed for international students who have been accepted for admission and will be joining the University. As an international student you will have many arrangements to make in preparation for your studies here. These pages highlight the things you need to organize before you leave home and should help you to adapt to life in a new environment as quickly as possible. Considering that studying abroad is more than just the promotion of academic enrichment and personal growth, being also an excellent opportunity for employment prospects, the International Relations Office provides practical information and offers advice on many issues affecting international students such as funding and immigration. We administer most of the University's scholarship and bursary schemes for international students.
We also arrange the Orientation Programme for international students at the start of the academic year (details of this should be sent to you by your college before you leave your home university). In this Guide, international students can find information concerning : the procedures for admission and arrival, academic calendar, degrees, Portuguese language courses, medical assistance, general information concerning the structure of the University, as well as other information concerning the city of Évora.
